HELPFUL HINTS

• Always keep emergency phone numbers next to the phone, e.g. Pediatrician, Poison Control Center, Hospital, relatives. 

• Never ‘prop’ formula or water bottles during feeding. 

• Avoid putting jewelry or chains around the baby’s neck or wrist. 

• Keep small toys or toys with small components out of baby’s reach. 

• Gently insist that persons wash their hands before touching the baby. 

• Never administer the baby’s bath under running water. 

• Use a car seat every time you are transporting the baby in a vehicle. 

• Never put the baby’s pacifier on a cord. 

• Some factors increase the risk of SIDS, e.g. soft bedding, loose bedding, over heating, bed sharing and improper sleeping positions.
